This stuff just keeps getting better and better. Not only did he not prove that this nation was founded on a Christian nation. He failed to give fact or history on the most important things.
1: He talks about when they dated the Constitution “in the year of our lord”. Ok now this is just plain stupid. Everyone knows that out date system is set to a BC/AD system. Anyone know what AD means? It means “Anno Domini” (not after death stupid). We all know this is the way time is measures. In the time of the constitution it was normal for them to place “In the year of out lord” in all there dates just has we just write the date now. This does NOT make us no more a Christian nation than me caring money in my pocket that states “in God we trust” makes me a Christian.
2: He stats a list of presidents that said we ARE a Christian nation. Funny considering most of them were opposed to Christianity and even Thomas Jefferson wrote his own bible because he belied the Christian bible was “nonsence”. They all believe that the teaching of Jesus outside divinity were something to base a nation on. Nothing more. Besides the argument is weather the founding fathers founded this nation on the bible. So why talk about presidents 100 years after there death? The constitution says what this nation is and it does not mention the word God, Christianity, the bible, or Jesus Christ not one time. The words “In god we trust” didn’t appear in this nation until well after the founding fathers were dead. The first time it was on a coin was 1864, it wasn’t the national motto until 1956. So how can you say the founding fathers wanted all this?
3: Once again 90% of everything he talks about happen in the last 100 years. How is this proof that we are founded on Christianity? How can something so important be left out of the Constitution? Why? because it isn’t true. The very document which states what we are… does not mention it. If you want to prove that we were founded on a christian nation… then look to history at the time of this, not at what happen in the last 100 years when our leaders started their own propaganda.
4: Every one admits that the founding fathers wanted a separation of church and state. This country was founded on freedom of religion (not freedom to be a Christian ass hole) This was to include all religion and not just Christianity. Why Christians think the fathers came here just so they could have Christianity just kills me. Christianity was one of the many religions that out fathers were. Most were Deism however and not Christians. I get so tired of hearing people say we left England to worship Christianity, get over yourself already. It was the freedom to worship anything, Not only your invisible man. Any way my question is this.
If there is a separation of church and state,
then how can the state be founded on the church? Its simple… it cant be.
5:How does them preying mean we are based on a Christian nation? im sure because a few of them wanted to prey don’t mean we was. Thats like saying 40 people are starting a company… 10 of them want to have a moment of prayer before they sign the papers and then everyone saying that company was founded on Christianity because a few had a prayer.
I have been into this study for sometime. I can not find any hard evidence that were founded on a Christian nation. I find a lot of people in office saying we are just to get votes…. but thats not evidence. Besides Christians keep saying we need to go back to what our founding fathers wanted for us and gave us and we need to become what this nation once was… Why? did it work? did we all end up better off because of it? what good came from it if we was founded on Christianity? Why is this something we need to go back to? did i miss something? What we need is an education. A people that can think for them selfs. People keep blaming the government for the problems has if the government is a person or building that keeps doing shit. The government is PEOPLE. People make out choices and people shape our lives. Sadly the people in change or corrupt. Its time for a change. Its time for Christians to get of their knees prying to god and actually do something. They just sit and prey telling god to change things when they could get off their ass and do it themselves.
And i will say this once again. If you can show me evidence that we was indeed founded on the BIBLE and Christian ways. Then i will admit that i have been wrong, if you admit that it didn’t work. Once you admit that it didnt work… Then you can try to explain to me why we need to go back to that. I mean listen to yourself. For a country the size and level we are we are the worst ruled most corrupt and we live worse than some in 3rd world country. We top the list in nothing but crime. The only people that want to be here is people that have nothing just because this is the easiest place to get to and we accept everyone. Our economy sucks, everything about us sucks, and your saying that this started with Christianity and that we need to go back to it? If i had a penny for every time a Christian said something without thinking i would own America by now.
P.S. Is it just me or does “Judeo-Christian” sound like some kind of Cult?
I shall leave you with this quote…
If you could reason with religious people, there would be no religious people.

So I agree and disagree with his arguments. As far as I understand, his main point is that of America being founded on Christianity.
My first thought: Why is he pairing Christianity with Juedeo-Christianity (judaism)? As far as I know, the Jewish population played a very miniscule, if not non-existant, role in the founding of this country. Jewish immigration was very slow up until the mid/late 19th century (if I’m mistaken, please correct me). Yes, Judaism and Christianity do have some things in common, but in no way do they go hand in hand. Maybe the reason he chose to pair Jewish and Christian faith in his argument was to cater to the large Jewish population in the USA today. But, I’m Jewish by blood, and I don’t fall for it.
Second thought: Yes, this country was founded on Christianity. His proof behind it though is very weak. Any high school graduate that took American history would be able to think of better ways to prove himself. The first American settlers were Puritans (I’m only including the English, the French and Spanish settlers aren’t my main focus). At the time, the Church of England was Calvinist and those who did not follow the guidelines and beliefs layed out by the church were persecuted. The settlers were pretty much “escaping” their home in order to gain religious freedom. They were Christian, there cannot be any doubt about that. When they arrived in America, they feared monarchy. People were still religious and intolerant to an extent (look at the Salem Witch Trials).
“Because the laws of God explicitly informed the earliest laws of the Massachusetts civil code, a husband could not legally command his wife anything contrary to God’s word.” (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puritan)
So yes, America WAS founded on Christianity. The settlers weren’t a bunch of Atheist rebels trying to rebel, they were a bunch of Christians who could not practice their version of Christianity in England.
Now onto the government: Our founding fathers realized that law cannot be dictated by religion for the most part and the people agreed with this as well. After their struggles with England, they wanted freedom of religion. Being open and accepting was another thing. Socially, everyone had to believe in the same thing but the government may not set the beliefs legally. A good example of this is our modern outlook on beauty. Socially, it is unacceptably to be overweight. If you are, the public labels you as ugly. Can the government make a law stating anybody who isn’t skinny is ugly? Of course not. This makes sense.
So here it is for all of you social conservatives out there: OUR GOVERNMENT WAS BUILT TO PROTECT FREEDOM OF ALL RELIGION, NOT JUST CHRISTIANITY. Our foundation has nothing to do with it.
If we were to base law off of religion, it would be 17th century England all over again. The first American settlers were fleeing from religious persecution! They feared the government and church being intertwined. I think the religion thumpers need to take this into consideration. Yes, we were founded by Christian people, but why did the Christian people end up half way across the world from their home?
Today, this is all history. Just as the settlers would have been up in arms over a national religion, I think we would be too. The country is no longer run by Puritans or Christians for that matter. Christianity may still be the majority but this isn’t the stone age. People have evolved past the need to depend on God(s). I may be an Atheist but I have no problem with people of any faith. But it would go against American values and beliefs if governement caters to Christianity, especially for such weak reasons as those expressed in this clip.
It’s not a matter of God, believing or not believing. It’s our constitutional freedom at stake. If the early American settlers would have seen this, they would have probably been in a panic. The more power religion is given by the government, the less tolerance and freedome are people granted.
HAHA true. I never though about the fact they are a billion different types of Christianity out here. They all think the other is going to hell. So in other words. Christians now days still shouldn’t be wanting to run with this thing because even if we are founded on Christianity then it was still a different religion from what we have today. Kinda like today we have Baptist, Pentecostal, and the other million more.
While he starts off with a decent point, the president should have put that statement into better context, however, I agree with him only insofar as this; that religious and secular mandate are NOT the one and the same – for each individual’s perception of each ranges from slightly inconsistent to radically incompatible. I don’t like the thought of any such statement not being put into proper context as such before any foreign nation, especially a country with a history as rich as Turkey (the vein of middle age trade, economy, religion, and society – as well as the residence of a vast many of my current correspondents – none of which would be unable to see through such a political and economic ploy *cough* power play), and this is where I stand.
Criticism:
1) When he talks about the first act of congress being a religious escapade, well… the opposite of congress is progress, and that much has been proven by Wall Street ownership of congress. It’s all about lobbying nowadays, business as usual. And besides the point, congress did not found this nation. And while each “founding father” acknowledged Christianity (waka waka waka), very few embraced it as the “one truth”. It was simply not in their best interests to construe things otherwise, due to the general presumptuous behavior Americans are known to demonstrate in that their way, is everyone’s way – and “they ain’t havin any o dem dere infuduls er heathuns runnin dere cuntry”.
2) 2:20 – 2:34: Correct. But henceforth and thereafter, the inverse of that statement was applied. Proof: when was the last time this nation sat back after a war broke out, and said “God will take care of us”? No, we invest all our faith in our economy, our weapon systems, and our government – ironically, all of which are the cause of those wars.
3) He needs to do moar research. He doesn’t even realize he has a good point, because he has allowed himself to be blinded (or at least sells himself that way) by the notion that God exists in a way manifest of Judea-Christian application, and that America is the exemplification of that very notion. This of course, is fallacy – or should I say – phallusy. For that is all any religion integral of the trinity is; the corn god, the virgin, the sun. Amen, Amon, Emun… pick your vowel. It’s all the same. All require obelisks to be erected, as a symbol of faith to ancient astrological phenomena (sic: #1 Solomon’s Temple, #2 The Giza Pyramids, Roslyn Chapel, Solomon’s Seal/Star of David/Scotland’s + Brittan’s Flag (Brittian of course being the Hebrew word for “Land of the Covenant”), all being the same, and through tracing their vertices out and applying that guideline to the zodiac, the paths of all astrophysics models, and in astrology, the divine mandate and prophecy thereof). And the Hebrew way is the way that which our societies are construed, insofar that per belligerent expressions of non-provable paradigms regurgitated by people who have lost all hope but one, two [pun intended] a fairy tale of three immutable entities which promise a paradise upon mere contemplation and application of the essence [or should I say, essene] to one’s daily life – the very paradigm testament to humanity, and that which the Hebrews have squared with for so long that they withdrew to secretive “star societies”, in which the rituals were shared and in general degraded through misinterpretation of acolytes – thus, roundabout throughout the centuries and culminating with one particular man whom took a fancy to changing his name to Red Sheild, forming the very secret societies that to this day hold all human power. And possibly, then some. So in that sense, we are Judea-Christian – but only in the context that “sekreet know/ledge” was first belonging exclusively to the Jews. But I’m quite sure this is not the context that this man is preaching for… as demonstrable of this video, and the general level of apathy in the face of such extensive research as that of my own personal pursuits and justifications – mostly, hitherto, done simply for the lulz.
In summation, the only context that can possibly construe this as a Judeo/Christian nation, is that of the notion that Americans are stupid… and deliberately, and defiantly, and proudly, acknowledge, accept, and boast just that.
Though this man still has the point that even those who disagree with him fuck up – as per our own president’s shitty context and presentation.
There is no good. Go choke on a dick and die. That is sufficient worship for Judea/Christian physiology to get you a golden ticket to heaven, as per astrological reverence. Or better yet – castrate yourself, or a male (if you are female), place a corn where the phallus once was, and then choke on that. Golden.
Sage.
Wow. This guy would have been better if he just hadn’t said anything. Its a shame people like this are running our country.
What does Juedeo-Christianity have to do with what he is talking about? I never even heard of this until the last few months.
Which renders it useless. So funny how they say this is what Americans based it morality off of. Why would we want to go back to this look at our history. I guess the Christians want slavery and everything else back we had back then. I mean they they call it Judeo–Christian because of the similarities in the 2 religions but… isn’t every religion similar? I mean all they do is just copy off of one another so for the most part they are all the same.
Isn’t every religion a cult in a way?
Yes!.
A cult is thought by many to be something “demonic” something evil. Even growing up in a Christian home as i did i was taught that a cult was pretty much a group of people that did bad things, or some kind of witchcraft stuff.
The deictionary gives us this:
So yes any religion is a cult, just a group of people that believe the same thing. Odd how Christians teach that cults or what they say they are. Considering a witch could be interpreted to there own preachers and holy doers, and no one has done more bad deeds that Christianity.

I should have wrote this in the post but didnt think about it, but was thinking about this:
How does them preying mean we are based on a Christian nation? im sure because a few of them wanted to prey don’t mean we was.
Thats like saying 40 people are starting a company… 10 of them want to have a moment of prayer before they sign the papers and then everyone saying that company was founded on Christianity because a few had a prayer.
You have a valid point. Just like when I eat dinner at family other people’s houses, or any public outing; the patron, or some other such, always says “we must bless the food”. I cannot count one formal meal that hasn’t been “blessed” by a christian I’ve ever eaten. Doesn’t make me a Christian anymore than it makes the food holy.
Same fundamental principle.
Going to church don’t make anyone a Christian either but good luck telling that to Christians.
i AM NOT a Christian by any means and i live a more moral life and live more according to “what god would want” than 90% of the Christians i know.
Some one told me TODAY in fact that they believe one day i would see the light and be saved. After i laughed and assured them i wouldn’t be, I thought to myself… why? Why would i be a Christian. I can look at no Christian i know and see not one thing i feel i need in my life. I see no…”light” i see no repentance for anything. I dont see anything that makes me feel i need what they have in my life. I see not one reason i should become more like any Christian i know.
Atheists and agnostics are right in most of their thinking
It has been common among religious believers to look with misgiving at atheists and agnostics, and to think that they are mistaken; however, in many instances the opposite is the truth; some religious beliefs are not just baseless, but obsolete and irrelevant. It is unbelievable how myths and a religious fantasy have influenced human minds with more strength than reality!
Most people don’t dare to confront their religious doubts; they are afraid of abandoning the “certainty” of their convictions, and opt for the status quo. The “God” of main line traditions simply does not exist. I accepted the challenge of finding the One who may be recognized even by agnostics and atheists, and came to the conclusion that God isn’t other than the Existence itself; and the Existence is, “I am,” the total existence, “All-That-Is.” There is probably a single issue in which I do not agree with atheists: I believe that “there is no effect without cause.”
There is a book most probably not written for you, but perhaps useful for some of your religious friends who still think that you are wrong and they are right: “Christianity Reformed From ist Roots.” It might help them to be relieved of the illusion, as I did myself. Distinguished philosophers and thinkers might give you an idea of this book—perhaps a generation ahead of time for most believers—(links below); or you might look at excerpts at Amazon.com.
